Critical and Creative Writing 12

Course Overview

Grade 12 Critical and Creative Writing course offers students an opportunity to explore and expand their writing skills through a variety of  critical and creative writing activities.  This course is designed to help the students to read and respond critically to a wide range of literary works in different genres. Additionally, through a set of both informal and formal activities, students will be challenged to find their own voice and style as writers by creating their own samples of original writing. Although the primary focus of this course is writing, an in-depth study of literary works will also be included in this course.

Grading Policy

In Critical and Creative Writing class, students will complete various academic assignments divided into the following categories: homework, class work, quizzes, tests, and projects.  Students’ final grade for each marking period will be determined by adding the total points earned on assignments in each of the categories.

Extra Credit

Extra credit work is available to those students who are in excellent academic standing.  Extra credit assignments are designed to extend and enrich student learning.  Extra credit assignments do not replace daily assignments and cannot be thought of as an easy way to earn a grade.
