The Title1 program is a Federal Aid program which provides schools with extra funds to be used to give supplemental instruction for those students who qualify. Although the federal government uses a formula based on free and reduced lunch to allocate money to districts, the program itself is not limited to solely servicing students of low income families..

Lee Elementary School is a Title 1 Targeted-Assistance School (partly funded as opposed to whole-school funded). At Lee Elementary, eligibility for services is based on multiple criteria, including but not limited to MCAS scores, student growth, reading and math assessments as well as teacher referral. All students are awarded points based on these criteria. Students are then rank-ordered according to their points. This ranking is necessary because our resources are so limited. Services are aimed toward those students most in need. At present, we have approximately forty-four children in grades three through six enrolled in the Title I program for fall 2011.
